As part of the federal government Water for the Future plan, the City of Onkaparinga led a localised integrated water resource management initiative to provide fit-for-purpose alternative water sources to reduce reliance on traditional water supply.

Why they approached us

As part of the initiative, commercial and negotiation services were required from BRS to assist in the Early Contractor Involvement procurement approach to determine mutually acceptable contracting arrangements and effective project delivery.

Issue 1 - Selection of an appropriate delivery team aligned to the behaviours and culture of the client

Issue 2 - Value for money obtained through the procurement and commercial alignment process

Issue 3 - Project delivery set up for success through open and transparent approach to the procurement process

BRS solution:

Overall BRS was able to assist the City of Onkaparinga to promote constructive relationships between the council and contractors, obtain win/win commercial arrangements, and ensure that the City of Onkaparinga maintained its reputation as a valued and important client amongst contractors.

Design, development and implementation of contractor evaluation process and criteria including commercial alignment sessions between contractor and council;
Development of tender documents, contract documents and a negotiation plan that delivered value for money outcomes; and
Development and implementation of a project governance plan including alignment services.
