Updating our True North

As part of the BRS planning process, our team have recently spent some time ensuring we are clear on what we are looking to achieve and why we exist.  We have found that this has evolved over the years, as we now work predominantly with clients in the infrastructure sector, and we really enjoy working with the people and projects we have been exposed to in this industry.  It truly drives everything that we do at BRS as we continue to improve everything we do internally and with our clients.

From this, we have refined our vision and mission which is as follows:

Vision: To be Australasia’s leading non-engineering infrastructure advisors in the Engineering, Construction, Resources and Government sectors.

Mission:  Our mission is to improve the capability and capacity of our clients in the infrastructure industry to deliver better outcomes for the community.

We look forward to working towards these aspirations as we continue to work with our clients.

Commercial Acumen Training for Local Government

BRS understand the unique pressures and challenges that local governments face in delivering value for money outcomes for the community.  Councils often have some core skills in key areas of their organisations with the potential to deliver efficiencies, however, these need to be further develop in conjunction with training around the appropriate commercial skills and the right mindset to deliver better outcomes for their communities.

BRS supports local government organisations develop the commercial capability of staff in a range of areas including understanding what value for money means for their community, how to work with their supply chain to develop their capability and capacity as well as in key areas such as writing effective tenders to ensure they get value for money outcomes.   This enables their staff understand what value for money looks like in all areas of their services and deliver the best possible outcomes for their community.

BRS recently assisted the Mount Barker District Council in South Australia with the facilitation of Commercial Acumen training. BRS delivered customised, interactive sessions to improve staff capability and raise commercial awareness resulting in driving better value for money outcomes for both the community and council.  Mount Barker District Council were fantastic in the manner in which they worked with BRS to ensure that the training was tailored and engaging ensuring all attendees learnt skills that will help them and their community on future projects.
